Why Dr. Khan thinks this program is important…
As an anesthesiologist, my job is to establish a comfort zone with the patient before they are taken for surgery, often the most stressful time in their lives. During my clinical practice, I have come to realize that each patient presents with a unique perspective or concern; in that brief moment before they go to sleep, they need reassurance and strength to overcome barriers they may have in their minds. Empathy, understanding and communication is the key to help them step into the unseen future with strength and hope. I want everyone to recognize and learn how to effectively change the way they communicate with patients in order to enhance the care they provide.
