COM Office of Research

The UAMS College of Medicine Research Office supports clinical and basic science research, provides leadership in expanding the college’s research and creative activities, aligns the COM research agenda with federal agencies and foundations, fosters interdisciplinary research programs and collaborations, and works with the UAMS Development office to further COM research and augment funding.


The Office of Sponsored Programs Administrative Network (OSPAN) provides sponsored programs administration to all stakeholders of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Our experts will conduct the administrative business of sponsored programs so stakeholders can perform the sponsored program objectives.


The UAMS Transnational Research Institute (TRI) provides services and resources to ensure the swift translation of research into health care advances. This support is available to all UAMS researchers at the UAMS campus in Little Rock, the Northwest Regional Campus in Fayetteville, Arkansas Children’s Hospital and Research Institute in Little Rock, and the Central Arkansas Veteran’s Healthcare System in Little Rock and North Little Rock.


The UAMS Institutional Review Board (IRB) protects the rights and welfare of subjects involved in the human research that it oversees.


The Science Communication Group (SciCom) is a scientific editing resource available to UAMS investigators at no cost. SciCom’s mission is to teach UAMS researchers grantsmanship and proposal development through mentoring, workshops, and presentations.

Research Compliance

Office of Research Compliance prrovides a variety of resource from compliance consultation to compliance reviews.


The mission of the Department of Medical Humanities and Bioethics is to improve the health, health care and well-being of Arkansans and of others in the region, nation and the world by addressing the ethical and humanistic issues raised in health care delivery and research.
