Seeking Nominations for UAMS 2020 Phenomenal Women Guidelines


March is National Women’s History Month, which highlights the contribution of women to history and society.  Our theme for 2020 is “Each for Equal:  UAMS 2020 Phenomenal Women.”


An equal world is an enabled world.  UAMS joins our country this year in honoring women who make a positive difference for women on our campus community and beyond by helping to create a gender equal world. 


We are asking your department/unit/area to participate in our campus-wide celebration of UAMS women by selecting and highlighting a “Phenomenal Woman.”


In making your selection, please consider a woman who: 

1)    demonstrates a UAMS core value of integrity, respect, diversity and health equity, teamwork, creativity, excellence or safety; or

2)    actively challenges stereotypes, fights bias, broadens perceptions, improves situations, or celebrates women’s achievements; or

3)    uplifts others towards equality; or

4)    has overcome personal or professional challenges by utilizing her skills and determination to persevere.


Please e-mail the name of your “UAMS Phenomenal Woman,” along with a digital photograph and a minimum 300-word essay (no more than 500 words) in Microsoft Word format of why your selection is “Phenomenal” to Odette Woods at  You may also send a hard copy to Odette Woods, Division for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Slot, 625 by February 18, 2020Please limit your nominee selection to women who have worked full time at UAMS for at least one year and who have not previously been nominated as an UAMS Phenomenal Woman.  See  previous nominees.  We will honor all UAMS Phenomenal Women during our annual women’s history event on March 20, 2020 in the 12th Floor Auditorium of the Jackson T. Stephens Spine and Neurosciences Institute from Noon until 1:30 p.m.  Lunch is available to the first 150 people beginning at 11:30.
