Alumni Relations and College Advancement
The major focus of this committee is to promote the College of Health Professions and its professional programs. To accomplish this charge, the committee will work in conjunction with the UAMS Office of Institutional Advancement to develop and implement fund raising to benefit the College. The committee will work with the UAMS Office of University Relations to develop and implement a plan to promote the College through various communications media. The committee will coordinate the production of an alumni newsletter and/or the CHP section of the UAMS Journal. In summary, the charges are to coordinate CHP fund-raising activities; coordinate production and distribution of an annual alumni newsletter and/or the CHP section of the UAMS Journal; promote the College through various communications media; implement the CHP graduation luncheon; and other charges as assigned by the Dean or the Dean’s designee.
The committee shall be comprised of seven (7) members: four (4) faculty, one (1) student, one (1) alumnus/alumna, and the Dean’s Office Executive Assistant. Faculty members shall serve two-year terms and student and alumni members shall serve one year terms.
Curriculum
The Curriculum Committee’s charge is to provide peer review and evaluation of curriculum and program policies affecting curriculum, and to recommend changes in curriculum and related policies. The committee will provide guidance to programs in development of curricular proposals and materials, review and evaluate proposed curricular changes and new proposals, review policies affecting curriculum, and recommend needed changes and develop and periodically review standards, procedures, formats, and deadlines for submission and approval of curricular changes. In summary, the charges are to review proposed curriculum and course changes; review and update the curriculum revision request form (as needed); and other charges as assigned by the Dean or the Dean’s designee.
The committee shall be comprised of seven (7) members no more than two of whom are from the same department including: at least one (1) department chairman, the previous CHP Curriculum Committee chairman, a CHP representative to the UAMS Graduate Council. Members shall serve three-year terms with the exception of the previous CHP Curriculum Committee chairman and the CHP representative to the UAMS Graduate Council. These members shall serve one-year terms.
Diversity
The charge is to review, develop, and recommend policies and practices that enhance diversity among the students, staff and faculty. The committee will promote in the CHP the activities of the UAMS Diversity Committee. The committee will review and disseminate current data relevant to student, staff and faculty recruitment, retention, staff/faculty development, teaching techniques, and assessment strategies. In summary, the charges are to create and implement strategies for improving minority student, staff and faculty recruitment and retention; coordinate and study the effectiveness of all student recruitment activities; and other charges as assigned by the Dean or the Dean’s representative.
The committee shall be comprised of ten (10) members: five (5) faculty, the Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs, the College Recruiter, the CHP Registrar, the CHP Admissions Officer, and the UAMS Director for Diversity and Recruitment. Faculty members shall serve two-year terms.

Scholarship
The Scholarship Committee’s charge is to create criteria and guidelines for college-wide scholarships, review and approve criteria and guidelines for program-specific scholarships; review and evaluate applications for college-wide scholarships and select recipients of these scholarships; review and approve program-specific scholarship recipients nominated by department scholarship committees; adhere to donors’ wishes, approved criteria and guidelines, applicable laws and regulations, and CHP and UAMS policies; notify the dean and Student Financial Services about recipients of scholarships; make recommendations to the dean about new scholarships, scholarship policies and procedures, and other matters pertinent to student scholarships; publicize the availability, eligibility requirements, and selection criteria for college-wide and department scholarships; and report annually to the dean and the Executive Committee on the committee’s activities and accomplishments.
The Scholarship Committee shall be comprised of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, six (6) members of the faculty of the College of Health Professions, and one (1) staff member of the CHP Office of the Dean. All members are voting members. Faculty members of the committee are appointed for two year terms, with three members appointed to begin their terms in even-numbered years and three members to begin their terms in odd-numbered years. Appointments are staggered so that every CHP department will be represented at least one time over a three year period. The Associate Dean for Student Affairs will serve as the chair of the committee. The chair may make other appointments as necessary, e.g., secretary/scribe, etc.

Faculty Development and Services
The primary function of this committee is to review, develop, and recommend policies and practices that enhance faculty development and relationships. Among committee responsibilities are to recommend and periodically review standards, procedures, and schedules for the measurement of faculty and administrative performance; identify areas of priority for faculty development, plan and coordinate activities which enhance faculty skills, knowledge, and interaction. In summary, the charges are to plan and coordinate the CHP fall social; periodically review and recommend standards, procedures, and schedules for the measurement of faculty and administrative performance, including updating the Faculty Self-Assessment Form; identify areas of priority for and coordinate faculty development activities (i.e., provide support for faculty working with new teaching technologies); coordinate activities regarding recruitment and retention of minority faculty with the CHP Diversity Committee; plan and coordinate activities which enhance faculty skills, knowledge, and interaction; other charges as assigned by the Dean or the Dean’s designee.

CHP Grievance
The members of this committee will form a pool from which the CHP Grievance Panel is selected according to the procedures outlined in Section D.1 of the UAMS Grievance Procedure Related to Discrimination Complaints and Section 4.7.3 of the CHP General Student Grievance Procedure. In summary, the charges are to review the UAMS and CHP Grievance Procedures; when selected, individual members will serve on UAMS or CHP Grievance Panels; and other charges as assigned by the Dean or the Dean’s designee.
The committee shall be comprised of one faculty representative and one student representative from each CHP of the eleven (11) departments. Faculty members shall serve two-year terms and student members shall serve one-year terms.

Academic Senate Council
The purposes of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences’ Academic Senate are:
- To provide an organization that will permit a broad base for campus governance through a participating involvement of students, faculty, and staff in the development of guidelines and regulations for campus affairs in relation to those matters that affect the quality of campus life as well as to those matters that enhance and sustain an environment of academic excellence;
- To generate and promote understanding, collaboration, and a sense of community on this campus; and
- To provide a representative forum for the communication and exchange of ideas as the basis for a deliberative synthesis of recommendations to the Chancellor and, through the Chancellor’s Office, to the President of the University on matters of concern to members of the Assembly.
The College of Health Professions holds two seats in the Academic Senate Council. Each representative shall serve a two-year term.
